debate
Yesterday, there was a heated argument during chinese class. A debate on whether beauty, character or health is most important was ongoing. I took the beauty side, which only compromises of me, Min, Melissa and Yi Ling. They rest are hypocrites! People like Alvin Lim said that beauty is the most essential but eventually, he took sides with health.
The class was divided into three and Miss Teo made us debate, in chinese. My side was saying something like:
“First impression counts, people might not approach you if you are unpleasant looking…”
Ber who was taking the side of good character retorted,
“Don’t worry, people with good characters like us will take the initiative to talk to ugly people”
Quite a good comeback I must admit. I was laughing so hard, I couldn’t think of anything snide. Even Miss Teo couldn’t stop laughing. HAHA
In the end, Miss Teo concluded that good character is most significant because people who are well-known are mostly known for their noble characters.
BUT IF YOU ARE PRETTY, YOU WILL BE ETCHED IN OTHER PEOPLE MINDS/HEARTS TOO RIGHT?!! Very superficial, but still…

Yet another debate today. This time it was during bio lesson. Mrs Tan was telling us that in Singapore, medication for HIV (to hold back symptoms of AIDS) is not subsidized by the government. She then elaborated the significance of these medication and made us take a stand. Should the government subsidies medication for HIV or not? I was violently against subsidising. Many people were for subsidising because they said that some infections were not due to promiscuous sex. I DONT CARE!! I VIOLENTLY OBJECT. Oh well… that’s my opinion. What’s yours?
